F.A.Q.’s
Can I use numbing cream before my appointment?
I never advise using numbing creams, especially without consulting with me first. Not only can it interfere with healing, but it affects the texture and behavior of the skin making it more difficult to tattoo which can compromise the quality of your tattoo. If I am unable to effectively tattoo you due to the use of numbing cream, we will have to reschedule and you will have to put down another deposit.
I know… Tattoos hurt! So here’s the deal - Numbing creams are topical and usually lidocaine based (which needs to be used carefully, especially if you have any medical issues affecting your heart), and tend to work better once the skin is broken during the tattoo. During the tattoo, I prefer to use only Bactine and/or witch hazel to help mitigate pain and reduce inflammation. I also limit session lengths so you’re not totally drained after the session. If you feel that you absolutely NEED to use a numbing cream, please discuss this with me first! I want to review what brand you intend to use and go over the risks with you.
